President Obama spoke off the record, but in the age of Twitter, Facebook, phones that record, photograph and videotape; there is no more off the record.
He called Kanye West out as a jackass, for his weenie ways onstage with Taylor Swift, a young artist receiving an award that he completely shat on for his own self-promoting purposes.
And that Cognac bottle he was toting around while his Python princess Amber Rose was in tow? 'Rwas a prop say many, who were there and observed the cap was screwed on the bottle.
So Obama called Kanye West a “jackass” - which was the consensus for many who felt his interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards was over the top, even by Kanye standards.
How the event occurred was that ABC News' Washington bureau shared a network fiber line with CNBC, and the producers there monitoring CNBC's feed heard the jackass remark.
TV reporters began Twittering his remarks immediately, because everyone was in dumbfounded shock hearing unfiltered commentary that rang true from a politician. The race was on, and Twitter blew up at the remark.
Within an hour, the ABC News employees who had posted Obama's comment realized their error and deleted their tweets. But everybody knows, there is no deleting Tweets-they hang out there in the TWEETOSPHERE FOREVER (caps for Kanye).
But by that time, the cat and the genie were out of the bag and bottle, and everybody is contrite and sorry, and the White House is not pleased. And Kanye got his headlines and possible Cognac sponsorship queued up.
The CNBC audio was obtained by TMZ.
"I'm assuming all this stuff -- where's the pool?" the president asked, referring to the group of White House reporters assigned to monitor his activities. "Come on, guys. Cut the president some slack. I've got a lot of other stuff on my plate."
