New York City - Norman Borlaug, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and agricultural scientist whose work helped feed millions of the world's people, died at the age of 95, US media reported on Sunday.
Borlaug, who suffered from cancer, died Saturday evening in Dallas, the New York Times cited the Texas A&M University.
Born the son of a farmer in the central US state of Iowa, Borlaug went on to become the scientist to develop high-yield grain crops that helped countries in Latin America and Asia greatly increase food output in what has been called 'the green revolution.'
He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for his work.
In presenting Borlaug with the award, Nobel Committee Chairwoman Aase Lionaes said that 'more than any other single person of this age, he has helped to provide bread for a hungry world. We have made this choice in the hope that providing bread will also give the world peace.'
