The surviving Bee Gees are planning to play live together again.

Robin and Barry Gibb are "getting back together" six years after the death of their brother, Maurice, who died of a heart attack following surgery for an intestinal blockage in 2003.

Robin, 59 - who was Maurice's twin - said: "I've just been with my brother in Miami and we have decided we are going to perform again."

He explained they both feel the time is right as he and his sibling have now "got through the breakwater of emotions" after Maurice's death, and feel ready to take to the stage again.

Robin also described his twin as: "Not just a brother but a comrade in arms really. It's an emotional thing when you lose someone that close."

Robin and Barry, 63, announced shortly after Maurice's death they would not use the Bee Gees name anymore when performing, although Robin wouldn't rule out the possibility last summer.

He said: "We decided that on an emotional level. Whether or not that will change, we don't know. It's a personal thing and we'll do it when the time is right".

The group, formed by Robin and Maurice in 1958, became synonymous with the 70s disco movement, and were instantly recognisable for their falsetto tones, beards and flared trousers. They have sold over 100 million records to date, and their hits including 'Stayin' Alive', 'Night Fever' and 'More Than A Woman'.
