Back when John Edwards was running for the Democratic presidential nomination slot in the past primaries, there were whispers and allegations.
The Enquirer took that salacious football and dug in, first to expose the alleged baby/mistress connection that first was ignored, then ultimately played out in the mainstream media.
Now the ex U.S. Sen. John Edwards is expected to admit his paternity with his former mistress, who bore him a daughter.
The Enquirer claims that Edwards secretly submitted to a DNA test - and that lawyers for the ex senator, a lawyer himself - are "hammering out child support payments" with his ex mistress Rielle Hunter.
Edwards famously denied all impropriety with ABC's Nightline a year ago - and his dying wife, cancer-stricken wife Elizabeth, stood by his side in support.
It was unrelenting investigations into improper handling of campaign finances that fueled the ongoing secret and exposure of the relationship between "documentarian" Hunter and her "subject" John Edwards.

"Rielle is not dumb. She knew the feds had subpoenaed her bank statements and knew about every payment she received," a source tells the Enquirer.
"The FBI told her it was in her best interests to tell the truth, and she did. And unlike the others who have testified, Rielle was driven to the court by FBI agents and escorted in by them. She got favorable treatment because she testified against John."
