US singer Jennifer Hudson gives birth to baby boy

Los Angeles - Oscar-and-Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson, 27, gave birth to her first baby, a little boy, after keeping the pregnancy from the public practically until the delivery, People magazine reported Tuesday. Her spokeswoman Lisa Kasteler told People that the baby, Daniel Otunga Jr, was 'beautiful and perfect. His parents are ecstatic.' The birth follows the tragic year of 2008 that saw Hudson's mother, brothers and small nephew murdered in October in Chicago by her brother-in-law. Hudson's weight gain had triggered speculation, including her farewell-to-Michael Jackson song in July in Los Angeles when she performed Will You Be There. Hudson received an Oscar in 2007 for her role in the film musical Dreamgirls.
