Peter Andre cried himself to sleep after his marriage ended.

The singer admits he has struggled to stay in control of his emotions since splitting from wife Katie Price in May and is still unable to move on and look to the future.

He said: "It all just suddenly hit me in the Ikea car park. I had to go home, and that night I cried myself to sleep. It's something I haven't done since I was a kid, but it was the only way I knew to get through that pain.

"I got hit by this sudden feeling of loss and I just broke down. I wish I was stronger. The one thing about Katie is that she can just move on. I can't do that. Not yet anyway."

Despite their bitter separation, Peter, 35, insists he still wants to be friends with the former glamour model - with whom he raises three children, Harvey, seven, Junior, four and two-year-old Princess Tiaamii - but doesn't want to repair their marriage.

He explained to Britain's Fabulous magazine: "I know we could never get back together. But I'd like to think we can be friends for the sake of the children. I married Katie because I believed we could make it work."

While Katie has been linked with a number of men since the couple split, Peter insists he has no interest in finding a new partner as he needs to rebuild his confidence first.

He said: "I lost myself a bit in my marriage. I lost my confidence and I'm slowly learning to build it back up again. After the split, I'd have given myself two out of 10 on a scale of how low I'd got. Now I'm around a five, and I just want to keep building. I need to get that confidence back."

Meanwhile, Katie is reportedly bedridden with swine flu-like symptoms.

The 31-year-old beauty missed a signing for her latest book 'Sapphire' yesterday (01.08.09), following dental problems, but her spokesperson said she may also have the potentially-life threatening virus.

Her spokesperson said: "I handed Katie a piece of chewing gum and just after she put it into her mouth, a veneer came out.

"She was in a lot of discomfort and we found a dentist who would open up especially to treat her. He had to give her a lot of anaesthetic and her face swelled.

"I am a little worried that she may have swine flu. She has been feeling ill over the past couple of days and she is spending some time in bed today."
