I can never understand why a cult like Scientology can draw so many supposedly intelligent people into their grasp? Just because someone decides to start one shouldn't get so many people thinking this person is the second coming. Anyone can set up some stupid rules and write a book about it. Are most of these people so disturbed and unhappy with life that they have to go off the deep end and engage in this crap?

Scientology induces ecstatic states in many of its members. During the drills and training, which can last hours, Scientologists end up having several 'Eureka!' moments, or euphoria where they 'know.'

That everything Hubbard wrote is true, and is true for them.

That Scientology is the only way for planetary salvation.

That anyone critical of Scientology is an enemy, and must be lied to or destroyed, as per Hubbard's orders.

Scientologists can't describe or quantify the benefit, because beyond some intermittent euphoria, or recovery from mild psychosomatic conditions, there is none. The blind and lame are not cured with Dianetic therapy. The children of Scientologists who are ill, like Jett Travolta, are not cured by Scientology's vitamin and sauna therapy. Jett's super human parents who are both high level 'Operating Thetans' with control over Matter, Energy, Space and Time, were not only as powerless as regular people in helping Jett, they were worse off because of Scientology claptrap.

So, Scientology is a subtle and insidious hypnotic technique, that if a person allows themselves to do it, over time it gets them to a point where they believe fantastical things and stop questioning what they are taught. It is training in self-delusion, while at the same time learning to manipulate and control others through 'tech.'

Travolta apparently loved his son deeply. Can the trauma of losing him, wake him up from the hypnotic state, he has practiced for so many years?

It is contingent on his access to information. Unfortunately the celebrity shills for Scientology, are often sheltered, even carefully steered away from any news that may cause cracks in their beliefs. For example, the series the Florida newspaper did on David Miscavige, slapping around the executives under him. Or David Miscavige's disdain for homosexuals, including things he couldn't stop himself from repeating to friends, about Travolta's private confessionals. (via auditing records)

So, stars like John are in a Scientology bubble, and within that, an even tighter bubble of being a celebrity Scientologist. They probably have a number of Scientologists, the very best ones, ASSIGNED to them, to control them, if they express any doubt.

Jason Beghe is the only celebrity to break out publicly. He is a very forceful, no-nonesense person, which makes you contemplate how strong these hypnosis techniques must be, to get a person like that into it for so many years. In comparison, Travolta is a lamb.

If Travolta were to have found a non-filtered access to the internet, and discovered something shocking, or realized how manipulated he was with the medical care of Jett, him leaving the cult would be earth shattering for Scientology.

Thousands of regular Scientologists, including many high level ones, have left the cult, including two Scientology spokespersons: Robert Vaughn Young and Mike Rinder.

But spokespeople are directly privy to all the lies Scientology puts out. Celebrities aren't.

My hope is that John is understanding the implications of Scientology's philosophy in treatment of his son.

Any other celebrities in Travolta's position (worth upward of 100 million), would have had a nurse watching their son all the time if he were subject to seizures, instead of John's Scientology boyfriend being the sitter, and would have sought treatment from the very finest doctors available.

So, there's a lot there for Travolta to think about. He has himself to blame, and more importantly, his involvement in this cult.
