The 'Proposal' star completed the gruelling 26-mile run last November in aid of the Michael J. Fox Foundation - which raises money for research into Parkinson's disease, in the hope of finding a cure - and despite raising $107,000 he admits he despised the experience.
Referring to war movie 'Platoon', Ryan said: "I found the whole thing utterly dreadful. Painful. A lot of people have this romantic notion that it's going to be a fantastic thing. I think they always picture themselves in slow motion with glorious sunshine on their backs.
"Through miles 20-26 it's like a graveyard. You pass people lying on the ground, paramedics helping them, just like 'Platoon' but everyone is in expensive running gear."
The actor was so put off by the race he is now looking for new ways of keeping fit.
He added: "Needless to say, I haven't run since the marathon. I like walking so I'd like to live in New York more.
"In Los Angeles there's very little interaction with people and that's what I miss."
