EPA/DANIEL DEME The Material Girl paid homage to the King of Pop - these two mega music icons from the eighties who ruled the charts often at the same time were good friends.Madonna honored Jackson Saturday night at the O2 Arena - the venue where AEG booked Michael Jackson for a 50-show run beginning later this month. Jackson's concerts were being billed as his farewell tour. Jackson passed away June 25 after suffering a cardiac arrest. During Madonna's set of the second leg of her Sticky & Sweet tour — a dancer named Kento made his way across the stage, wearing Jackson garb as he danced classic Jackson moves, including moonwalking. A medley of Jackson's hits then played, from "Billie Jean" to "Wanna Be Startin' Something." From the stage, Madonna said,"Let's give it up for one of the greatest artists the world has ever known."

In 1991, Madonna and Michael attended the Academy Awards as each other's dates. According to a Hollywood.com report, Madonna was also set to join Jackson at one of his O2 Arena shows.
