I commend him for that. The future belongs to the analog loyalists, as Steve Albini once said. Technology is going to be and more invasive as time goes on. I admire Jack White's interest in true pioneers of invention, like the man who invented the Tesla coil (watch 100 cigarettes. He demonstrates)... as a member of this generation I'm seeing more and more people tuning out with technology. After years of avoiding it, I bought in to the cell phone, yet I'm not impressed. Many claim that our right to privacy is the first one to go. I can see that being the case.. imaging software and all of the social network/gps bs is getting us there. If we become too reliant on digital technology, imagine if we get one of our satellites taken out? (Known as an emt attack) No more lifeline. ]ut as Lavar would say, you don't have to take my word for it. So yeah, brother Jack is not backward but forward.
