Washington - Michael Jackson's three children could face a complex custody battle in days ahead.
Jackson died suddenly on Thursday, leaving behind two sons and a daughter, aged 12, 11 and 7, who had lived with him practically since birth.
The mother of the oldest son, Prince Michael I, and daughter, Paris, is Debbie Rowe, a former nurse to Jackson's dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein. They married in 1996, divorced in 1999, but reportedly remained friends.
The mother of the third child, Prince Michael II, has never been publicly identified.
While legal experts say Rowe is likely to regain full custody of her two children, a lawyer close to the Jackson family said that Jackson's mother, Katherine, would be the more logical choice.
'She has all the grandkids and nieces around her but it will be up to the courts ... wouldn't be surprised if there are more proceedings regarding the children,' Jackson family attorney Brian Oxman told People magazine online.
But a former lawyer for Jackson's ex-wife told People that Rowe is the legal parent of her two children with Jackson. The lawyer, Iris Finsilver, said Rowe had tried to give up custody during a 2005 dispute with Jackson, but a judge restored it to her.
Further complicating matters is the fact that the mother of the third child, Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket, reportedly acted as a surrogate and her name has not been revealed. Custody of Prince Michael II is even more uncertain because the boy's mother was probably never a part of his life, CNN reported.

First off, his diehard fans know without a shadow of a doubt that Michael is NOT the sperm donor to his children. I don't care what skin disease he claims he had, his DNA in his sperm would have produced Mulatto children to say the least. Not Blond haired and blue eyed children.
Second, if any of the 2 mothers involved with his 3 children, demand custody, let me tell you how his AFRICAN AMERICAN family will react to this. FIRST and LAST with NO inbetweens, Mrs. Jackson will lay down the stipulations as to this, If any mother goes forward with seeking custody, the FAMILY will go to court to PROVE Michael was NOT the father of any of them, demanding DNA testing and this itself in a court of LAW will exclude the CHILDREN and MOTHERS from getting or seeking any child support. They will care and raise the children on their OWN, with no money from his estate or family.
As talk is going on in African American communities across the U.S., They better leave well enough alone and don't mess with mother Kathryn, she's not having any of it. The children will stay with the Jackson Clan and will carry on Michaels Legacy. This answer should shut down all the naysayers.
The Jackson family should have custody. The mothers in this case have apparently not been involved, so should not be considered.
i want to know the result of DNA test of michael jackson's children if they are all really his children.
You right. I think its time for the Doctor and Mrs. Rowe to come forward with what really happened. Is Michael Jackson really the father? I believe Mrs. Rowe and the doctor are the biological parents of Michaels children. Something is suspcious about those two, a doctor and nurse... had some role in conceiving babies for Michael Jackson? White looking children? Not to mention the doctors who are already under investigation for giving MJ prescription medication. All of those professional people watching him and probably waiting and knowning that someday he could and would die.

With so many lawyers around him all the time, why wouldn't provisions have been made to deal with a situation like this?
