I completely agree with the Sarkozy on this. After years of trying to fit in muslim values in our society by being fair to them, its refreshing to hear someone talk of values which we in the free world were taught. No more BS compromise. The quantity of Mosques in a city should also be planned and decided by the government.

Bravo to Nicolas Sarkozy for planning to ban the burqa. It is not only degrading and stifling for women but also aims to thrust the entire responsibility of society's morality and ethics on the woman! In today's global world when we speak of a world without any barriers of caste, creed, colour or religion - how can that be achieved when women in Islam are so ostentiously differentiated by their appearance in a burqa? It is refreshing to see a world leader stand up to this and not give-in to age-old irrational theories of religious tolerance like the spineless leadership in its rival, England. Thanks to 'religious tolerance', London probably will soon compete for the highest number of mosques and madrasas having lost nearly all of its uniquely own identity.

If French Muslim women are forbidden by law to wear burqa's in public won't this lead to increased opression? Surely their husbands, fathers and brothers will see as a reason to forbid them to leave the confines of their homes and they will end up secluded and even more opressed than they were before.

President Sarkosy-Thank you for taking a stand on the Berka and for speaking out against them. I wish some of your courage and ETHICS would rub off on to Obama.

Thank God that one leader in the Western World is standing up to the archaic practices of Islamic fundamentalists. Obama, being more concerned with his own personal popularity than the interests of Americans, and more importantly an entirely subjugated demographic of women in the Middle East, does nothing put nothing put praises Muslims for subjugating 50% of the population to rape and servitude.

Well it's about time somebody stands up against the Burka. If Western women go to Islamic countries, we have to abide by their rules and wear headscarf, burka etc.. but when they come to our countries, we have to again abide by their religion, they make no effort to fit in.Thank you Monsieur Sarkozy!
