Madonna took her new daughter Mercy to a Kabbalah meeting when she arrived in London yesterday (20.06.09).
The four-year-old Malawian orphan flew from the African country's capital Lilongwe to London to start a new life with the '4 Minutes' singer.
But just hours after her private jet landed, Mercy was rushed to a Kabbalah centre for her first lesson in the Jewish-based faith with Madonna's other children Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight and David, three.
Madonna's ex-husband Guy Ritchie was also at the centre when Mercy arrived.
The family spent an hour studying their faith before returning to the 50-year-old star's £15 million home in Mayfair.
Guy then took Rocco and David - who he adopted with the singer in 2008 - to his home in Wiltshire, south west England, so Madonna could bond with her new daughter.
Meanwhile, Mercy's father James Kambewa has revealed he is "heartbroken" his daughter has been taken from him.
The 21-year-old man told Britain's The Daily Mirror newspaper: "My Mercy is gone. Madonna has used her money and power but my blood lives in Mercy for ever and ever. There is nothing I can do now."
Madonna won custody of Mercy two weeks ago, after a long court battle.
Her initial appeal to adopt the child was rejected because she had not lived in Malawi for 18 months, as required by law.
She appealed the decision and won.
The singer was expected to fly to Malawi to pick up Mercy, but instead had her staff deliver the girl to the UK.
The family is expected to stay in London for a few days before returning to Madonna's home in New York.

First Madonna was denied adoption because she did meet the Malawian residency requirements. While her rejection was being appealed, she did not bother to spend so much as one day in Malawi which, someone with her means, could easily have done.
Then, being granted adoption, she sends a private jet and two strangers (to Mercy) to pick her up & transport her to London. Remember, this child has never been on a plane or seen a big city. Then, as if all this isn't confusing & scary enough, Madonna apparently made the child's first stop the Kaballah Center!
Guess Madonna & her pal Gwyneth Paltrow were busy decorating the kid's room in New York with porcelain dolls, antique teddy bears and a library of leather-bound children's books.
Mercy's closet is filled with cashmere & silk clothing, tutus and jewelry.
Obviously, these luxuries will make Mercy feel right at home.
It seems to me that this child's emotional needs are not even being considered. Even kid's used to wealth & privilege would find all this overwhelming.
