06/01/2009 - Sandra Bullock - She said: "I had a very strict German mother who knew for some reason - she was raised in Germany but she kind of knew - what was going on with me. I was not allowed out of the house alone in a car with a boyfriend until I turned 18. She knew. But she was also really rebellious and wild and I think she saw a little bit of that in me." © David Gabber / PR Photos
Sandra Bullock's dates were chaperoned until she was an adult.
The 'Proposal' star admits she was interested in the opposite sex from a young age but her strict upbringing meant she was never allowed to spend time alone with her boyfriends.
She said: "I had a very strict German mother who knew for some reason - she was raised in Germany but she kind of knew - what was going on with me. I was not allowed out of the house alone in a car with a boyfriend until I turned 18. She knew. But she was also really rebellious and wild and I think she saw a little bit of that in me."
Despite the restrictions imposed on her, Sandra insists she is grateful to her mother as she fears she would have gone off the rails if she had been given more relaxed rules.
She added: "If she hadn't kept an eye on me I don't know what would've happened."
