Cheryl Cole is being lined up as the host of a TV dating show.

The Girls Aloud beauty is the favourite to follow in the footsteps of Cilla Black by presenting a new series of hit British matchmaking show 'Blind Date'.

A source said: "Cheryl would be an ideal host - she's young and sassy and both men and women love her. Her own love life's been a bit up and down, but hopefully she can play cupid for the show's contestants."

Cheryl, who is married to British soccer star Ashley Cole, was a huge hit on UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' when she joined the judging panel last year and has been inundated with offers ever since, including some from the US.

Her fellow judge Simon Cowell is keen to help the 25-year-old singer achieve worldwide fame.

He previously said: "I would say she's a star, and she'll work as well in America as she does here. She's definitely got a shot."

US publicist Howard Bragman is confident Cheryl will be a Stateside success if she has Simon's support.

He said: "Simon is one of the biggest star-makers of his generation, and if you've got him in your corner, you are in very good standing.

"If she wants to be a solo singer, and Simon gave her a guest slot on his show 'American Idol', she'll have 30 million people immediately familiar with her music. Simon Cowell's the best fan club you can have."
