Why are you refering to Marioni as the 'husband/wife'? Surely Marioni has a preferred pronoun and set of gendered terms; it is rude and dehumanizing to ignore a person's gender presentation.

it seems like presenting both options IS polite, versus rude or dismissive as 'partner', as it is clear that Nixon's 'husband/wife' is clearly the dominate 'male' persona, hence the tie....
