Pathetic!

A gloriously out of context article, clearly written to provoke animosity towards the Manics from irate Slowhand fans. As anyone remotely familiar with Edwards' story is no doubt aware, he was never a proficient guitarist and barely appeared on any of their recorded material. Live his guitar was turned down low in the mix or not plugged in at all. His 'snub' to Clapton was simply because he was never very interested in playing the guitar - he expressed himself through his astonishing lyrics. In the original interview (from the NME I believe) James Dean Bradfield notes that Clapton obviously only had good intentions, and it is the simple mismatch of the two guitarists that provokes amusement in Nicky Wire. But then on a slow afternoon I suppose recounting a story (which incidently took place fifteen years ago) without resorting to tabloid mudslinging was a little too much to ask. The comment above is indeed accurate, although it is the article itself which is 'pathetic'
