Joseph Fiennes' prosthetic nose almost caused a car crash.
The British actor revealed members of the public find his large facial feature - which he has to wear for his latest UK theatre role 'Cyrano de Bergerac' - so distracting it nearly caused a road accident.
He said: "There was this guy in a jeep the other day and I was sitting outside with it on, and, as he drove past, he was really trying not to look but craning his neck out the car at the same time, so I yelled at him, 'Are you looking at my nose?' He didn't know what to do, and it definitely made him uncomfortable, so the nose is working."
The 38-year-old British actor plays the title character, an unattractive soldier and poet who is unlucky in love, in the Trevor Nunn play.
Joseph - who is currently dating model Maria Dolores Dieguez - believes he receives such negative attention because the nasal addition is so realistic.
He explained to Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "I've had this extraordinary death mask cast done of my face in plaster to make this prosthetic nose, about four inches long. It looks like it could have been broken, more a kind of bone growth or deformity, so we've gone away from the more comedic Pinocchio nose."
