The 'Spaceman' singer was upset by claims his band weren't "epic" enough for their headlining slot at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California on April 18.
He said: "People started a petition to try and get some other - I think their exact words were 'more epic' - band to headline. But those people can f**k off. I'd put our set at Coachella up against anybody in the world's."
Brandon - who will play a number of festivals in Europe with The Killers this summer - also dubbed American audiences "reserved" and insists they need to "surrender to the music".
The 27-year-old singer added to NME magazine: "It's such a celebration when you cross the Atlantic. Music is a massive part of life over there. Here, I mean, it is a part of life but we just haven't quite embraced the surrender to the music yet. A lot of people aren't sure how to act, they're just more reserved as fans."
