Director J.J. Abrams and Shatner battled it out in a war of words after it was revealed that Shatner was not going to be a part of the new Star Trek movie, but the original Captain Kirk says it was all a joke.
“There’s no bad blood. It’s great fun. J.J. and I have been jousting with each other on the airways…We were having fun.”
Shatner is also reaching out to the star of the new Trek film, Chris Pine, saying, “Chris, good luck… and hold your breath. It’s going to be a whirlwind.”
On screen, Captain Kirk is legendary for getting lucky with women in outerspace, but does Shatner think Pine’s Kirk can carry on the ladies man reputation? He says, “If anyone is going to get shagged, it’s going to be Chris.”
When asked if he plans to see the movie, Shatner responds, “I will eventually.” So, would he ever return to the Starship Enterprise? “I would love to. If the movie is successful and they make another one, never say never as James Bond…I loved Star Trek in all its many phases. I dearly would love to be a part of it.”
Shatner will be joined this weekend by Willie Nelson for the 19th Annual “Hollywood Charity Horse Show” which benefits Ahead with Horses and Camp Max Straus Foundation. The 78-year-old Shatner tells Devon that he’ll even saddle up! He says, “I am competing all weekend long…trying to win a blue ribbon in the sport of reining.”
“Extra’s” interview with William Shatner airs next week.

Shatner said, “Chris, good luck… and hold your breath. It’s going to be a whirlwind.” Same thing he said to his wife in the pool.
