Pete Townshend "doesn't enjoy" touring.

The Who guitarist hates the idea of being on the road but feels obligated to do it - though admits he would have left the band if he was completely against performing.
He said: "I don't enjoy touring very much I'm sorry to say. I get a lot of artistic fulfilment from it, especially as a performing guitar player and I find it very easy. I do feel under pressure to tour with The Who. I can handle it, I think. If I really didn't want to do it, I would just quit.
"I've always done so well on stage. I don't know what happens but I walk on stage bored, catch fire for two hours and walk off bored again."
Despite feeling unhappy about his current situation, the rocker still regards rock opera 'Quadrophenia' - which is currently being turned into a stage production - as his greatest ever work.
He said: "Whenever I write anything today that might turn out to have an underlying theme or story, I look at 'Quadrophenia' and ask myself two questions - one, can I do better? And two, could I survive that degree of intensive creative work and its aftermath? The answer to both is always no."
