Mickey Rourke's character John pushes Kim Basinger's character Elizabeth to the breaking point with increasingly stressful sexual demands.
Although Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke both star in the film, "The Informers", it was an emotional red carpet reunion for them at last night’s premiere.
Since they don’t share any screen time in their new movie, Rourke reveals to “Extra” that he “was very nervous coming here. I haven’t seen [Basinger] in 23 years.”
The stars of 1986’s cult classic, Basinger and Rourke share a special bond and Basinger said she reached out to Mourke when he was making "The Wrestler."
“I wrote him a letter because I will always feel a connection with him and he wrote me back a beautiful, beautiful note and it had his dog on there. We’re both animal lovers,” she said.
Rourke added, “I thanked her [for the letter]…Coming from her, it was very special and it was very generous and heartfelt letter. It brought me to tears really.”
Next up for Rourke is Iron Man 2 in which he stars with old pal Robert Downey, Jr. Rourke said that the two former bad boys have given up their wild ways for good. “We got two and a half strikes, so we’re not going to fall back. That ain’t going to happen,” he declares.
The 55-year-old Basinger credits daughter Ireland for helping her stay so gorgeous and in shape. She reveals, “I’m chasing a 13-year-old around my house to make her do her Spanish homework.”
“Extra’s” interviews with Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger airs tonight.
