Twitter, love it or hate it, is here to stay.
The Twitter founders are eating up the recent slate of media infatuation with their text message on steroids application, as Demi saves a mentally ill woman from killing herself, and husband Ashton pledges to give Africans a load of mosquito nets if he beats Larry King of CNN in a Tweet-off for followers.
Having celebrities advertise your application for free is brilliant work.
Now Oprah Winfrey has been dragged into the real-time fray and has published her first tweet on Friday’s live episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show
She used caps initially, considered shouting in online communication: “HI TWITTERS. THANK YOU FOR A WARM WELCOME. FEELING REALLY 21st CENTURY.”
Then she tweeted late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon who had twittered her telling her that he was at a photo shoot at a deli.
Oprah wrote, “hi jimmy order a reuben for me.”
Ashton Kutcher won the Tweet contest against CNN - gathering 1,000,000 followers. He promised to buy 10,000 mosquito nets for World Malaria Day.
Good sports CNN will also donate 10,000 mosquito nets.
Oprah also added to the charity drive, twittering to Demi Moore "count me in for 20,thousand nets.”
