The \'Angels\' singer - who is currently in the studio working on his long-awaited eighth album - is desperate for his music to be taken seriously and has hired the people who represent Lily Allen, Radiohead and the Pet Shop Boys to help turn his ailing career around.

Robbie Williams parted ways with his publicists in a bid to change his image.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Robbie had nothing but good things to say about his previous firm but it's time for a change.

"He is determined to be involved with a firm specialising in music not celebrity."

Robbie - who recently moved back to the UK from Los Angeles with girlfriend Ayda Field - has seen his career wane in recent years while his former Take That bandmates have enjoyed worldwide success.

In a bid to boost his flagging fortunes, the 35-year-old star is said to be desperate to reconcile with Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald.

He said recently: "I think it would be fun. It would be good. I'm in regular contact with them, even Gary, so it's looking more likely by the week.

"The lads seem up for it and some people think it's a done deal."

However, 'Greatest Day' singer Gary - whose rows with Robbie were one of the main reasons why he quit the band in 1995 - denied a reunion was imminent, though he admitted he was keen to work with the star again.

He said: "I've heard Robbie say that 50 times. We keep answering the same way - we'd all love to do something, but Rob's in the studio making an album and we're on tour in the summer.

"It will happen, I just don't know when."
