Simon Cowell is buying a Mini.
The multi-millionaire reality TV boss already owns a fleet of sports cars - including a £750,000 Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari F430 and two Rolls-Royces - but his latest purchase is a small vehicle worth £17,000.
A source said: "People criticise Simon for owning these cars and say they pollute the environment - but he hardly ever drives them because he is so busy with work."
Simon - whose portfolio of TV shows, which includes 'The X Factor', 'Britain's Got Talent' and 'American Idol', are thought to have pocketed him around £112 million - revealed this week he has always been careful with money.
The 49-year-old star said: "All the things my dad taught me 30 or 40 years ago are still relevant. Don't live beyond your means, nothing comes for nothing, you've got to work hard, be patient and believe in quality."
Meanwhile, Simon has also blasted microblogging website Twitter, which allows users to constantly update their page with small bulletins.
He said: "Why would you want to talk to people like that? It's like phoning someone randomly whose number you don't even have and saying, 'Hi, it's Simon, I went out with my family this weekend.' "
His outburst is believed to have been provoked by 'American Idol' judge Ryan Seacrest describing him as looking old on his Twitter page.
