Hugh Jackman is having magic lessons.
The Australian actor is so determined to portray legendary magician-and-escapologist Harry Houdini convincingly in a new Broadway musical he has asked Criss Angel for help.
A source said: "Hugh is taking his role very seriously! He's even studying how to perform Houdini's magic acts. Hugh has been receiving tips and help from great magicians such as Criss Angel and Ricky Jay."
Jackman will have to recreate the same tricks live on stage eight times a week once the production of 'Houdini' opens in New York in spring 2010.
'Houdini' is being produced by Scott Sanders, while David Rockwell will design the set.
Jackman is no stranger to musicals.
The 40-year-old hunk won a Tony Award for his role in a Broadway production of 'The Boy From Oz' and also appeared in 'Oklahoma!' and 'Sunset Boulevard'.
