Kelly Osbourne says she would have died if she hadn't gone to rehab.
The TV star, who recently spent a month in a US treatment facility, decided to seek help after her addiction to painkillers spiraled out of control.
She said: "I knew if I didn't get help, I would die. I'm getting a second chance at my career and I want to be present for it."
Kelly - who is engaged to model Luke Worrall - checked in to an Oregon rehab centre in January, without disclosing the reason for her stay.
The 24-year-old star, who was previously treated for an addiction to painkillers in 2004 and 2005, claims she is now sober for the first time since she was a teenager.
She said: "I had my tonsils taken out when I was 13 and they gave me liquid Vicodin. I found, when I take this, people like me. I'm having fun, I'm not getting picked on. It became a confidence thing."
Kelly's mother Sharon Osbourne spoke out shortly after she entered the facility and vowed to support her daughter.
She said: "Yeah, Kelly's in rehab. What else can we say? She knew that it was the right thing to do at this point and we're proud that she did it. The family is all standing behind her. Kelly knew that she needed help and she's getting it."
