Amy Winehouse's tattooist has revealed he is HIV positive.
Henry Hate - who has also etched designs on Pete Doherty, Boy George and Ordinary Boys singer Preston - kept his illness hidden from most of his clients and insisted he had every right to.
Henry - who is believed to have known he has had the virus, which can lead to fatal AIDS, for at least six years - told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I'm professional and know the risk factors involved. I take every precaution. I don't think it's something I should brag about. It's a personal thing."
As well as being sexually transmitted, HIV can be contracted through dirty needles and blood from the carrier into open wounds, and tattooing often causes bleeding.
However, Henry - who runs the Prick Tattoo and Piercing parlour in East London - insists he always wore gloves and only used needles once so his clients were never at risk.
He added: "I don't tell the general public. But some of my close customers who I have had for years are very aware."
Meanwhile, Amy pleaded not guilty to assault at London's Westminster Magistrates Court yesterday (17.03.09).
The 25-year-old singer - who recently returned from a two-month holiday in the Caribbean - is alleged to have attacked Sherene Flash at a charity ball in London last September.
