Jade Goody was confronted by a woman wielding a hammer at her hospital bedside yesterday (08.03.09).
Cancer stricken Jade, 27, screamed for help after the woman crept into her room with the hammer "chanting and praying".
Police arrested a 41-year-old woman - who is believed to be French - as she attempted to leave the Royal Marsden Hospital, where Jade is being treated in her battle against terminal cancer. She was later found to be carrying a hammer.
Jade's spokesperson, Max Clifford, said: "Jade was obviously shocked. She started saying, 'Who are you? What are you doing here?'
"She was chanting and praying. She called out for a nurse and when someone came the woman ran off."
A police spokesperson said: "We arrested a woman who was in a patient's room and whose behaviour was flagged up by the hospital's security. After questioning her she was found to be in possession of an offensive weapon.
"She was arrested for possessing the weapon and taken into custody at a London police station for further questioning. She had not attempted to use the weapon."
The woman was later released, with police saying there would be no further action.
The incident happened after Jade's husband, Jack Tweed, left the room where she was being treated to get a cup of tea. It is believed the intruder had lain in wait to confront the former 'Big Brother' star.
Jade was heavily sedated and resting yesterday after her christening and that of her sons, Bobby, five, and Freddie, four on Saturday (07.03.09).
Max added that the incident has made Jade more determined than ever to return home from hospital.
He added: "She had gone back to hospital for a few days to relieve her pain but after this I'm not sure if she'll stay. This is the last thing Jade needs at the moment. It was terrifying for her."
Jade's spirits have, however, recently been buoyed by a call from pop legend Michael Jackson, who phoned to pledge his support.
