Delingpole is one of those political hack writers who tries to get people all whupped up into a frenzy based on slander, innuendo, and ... well, just making stuff up.
First, the bust of Winston Churchill was a loan, not a gift.
Second, it is, in a word, hideous. It is said even the great man himself hated it. Search for it on Google Images. Yuck.
Third, Britain suppressed Kenya's Mau Mau rebellion during Churchill's second premiership, supporting the torturing of Kenyans allegedly by the colonial regime, including President Obama's grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama. Can't say I blame the president for not wanting to look every day at the bust of a man who supported the torturing of his grandfather.
Fourth, President Obama can decorate his office any damn way he likes, and he prefers a bust of his own hero, American President Abraham Lincoln. Can't say I blame him there, either.
Fourth, British PM Tony Blair aided and abetted the Bush administration in lying to the public about WMD in Iraq and helped to 'fix intelligence' around the desired policy, resulting in a ghastly un-ending and un-necessary war. IMO Great Britain has some apologizing to do.
JBL in Maine, you must do a lot of reading... you appear to know who gets who 'whupped up' in the world of journalism. I wonder if you are among those who were exited to have the Chosen One as president because of his class and education...
JBL, Michelle might find it interesting that President Obama just sited Winston Churchill as a past leader that stood against torture even while his country was being bombed to rubble during WWII.
