Speaking at the world premiere of the movie in London's Leicester Square last night (03.03.09), Emily said: "I hope they see this as a film that doesn't demonise the royal family because I think a lot of people have done that and scrutinised them. I think this is a more intimate portrait of Victoria which, hopefully, they will like."One royal who has already given her seal of approval to the movie is Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, who was married to Prince Andrew.The duchess, who attended the premiere with her daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, spent five years trying to bring the adaptation about Queen Victoria's early life to the big screen.She told BANG Showbiz: "I really believed in it, you know. When I married, I wrote two history books about Victoria, and I really believe in what she stood for. "It's about when you marry into the family - you understand the history of this country and the traditional values the monarchy stands for and I'm very proud to have been part of it."Ferguson walked down a regal purple carpet alongside the film's stars, including Emily and Rupert Friend. Rupert, who plays Victoria's husband Albert, hopes the film will change the way people view Queen Victoria's life.He said: "I think the perception we have of her is this lady in black with a handkerchief on her head, mourning. This shows the young girl who loved dancing and wanted to fall in love and was very passionate and committed, and that's what I think Emily does rather wonderfully in the film."Other stars attending included Sir Ben Kingsley and Bill Nighy.
