The camera work at the Oscar ceremony last night was an exercise in who could capture the expressions, if any, from celebrity power couples Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer, and her ex husband Brad Pitt and the woman who wedged in between them, Angelina Jolie.
Even media mogul Ryan Seacrest tried to get a sound bite from Brangelina on the red carpet, to no avail.
The one wildcard to a predictable award show was the awkward seating and timing of the arrival of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer. People want to see some sort of interaction, it seems.
There were tense moments when Aniston took the stage to present awards with "Kung Fu Panda" star Jack Black.
The cameras, on cue, panned right to Brad and Angelina twice, as Aniston was onstage.
Jolie seemed to laugh appropriately as Aniston, whom Pitt walked away from while making "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" with Jolie, was doing her bit. The second camera flash revealed Brangelina with a bit of a bemused expression.
