Florence and the Machine "barks too much" to sing with Adele.

The singer - real name Florence Welch - will receive the Critics' Choice award at the BRITs on Wednesday (18.02.09) and says she has no interest in sharing the stage with the 'Chasing Pavements' star, who was awarded the honour last year, because her vocal ability is so different.

Florence said: "Collaborations terrify me. I've known Adele a while and she's got an incredible voice but we're probably too different. I don't think our voices would work. I bark too much.

"The closest we came to singing together was at our first pub show when I shared the bill with her and Kate Nash. That turned out to be quite a line up."

Florence has also previously warned she may turn up to collect her award wearing her pyjamas.

She said: "I'm thinking of wearing my pyjamas to the awards. I'll find something. I'll be the one in the teddy bear shirt and pants combo on the red carpet.

"I'm excited and terrified at getting up to collect the award. It's the sort of thing you see on TV, you don't do it. It's like an alternate reality."

The singer also says the award puts extra pressure on her, as she is now in the spotlight despite not even finishing her debut record.

She added: "The whole thing feels so abstract because I still haven't finished my album. I feel like people are scrutinising me more as a result. I'll be kind of pleased when it's over so I can carry on just doing what I do."
