Ashton Kutcher defends video rant
Feb 4, 2009, 18:35 GMT
Ashton Kutcher insists ranting at his neighbour was not "horribly offensive".
The 30-year-old actor - who branded Bruce Goldsmith a "d***weed" and a "f***ing jackass" on an internet video after contractors working on Bruce's property woke him at 7am - claims he was within his rights to be angry because he "works for a living".
Ashton wrote on his MySpace blog: "I do not think that going off on my neighbour was a horribly offensive thing to do. I have job that sometimes forces me to work into the night (sometimes the movie business requires that) and occasionally I like to sleep past 7 am. Yes I live a very fortunate life and for that I am very grateful, I do however work for a living. I have a family that I support and a company that I run daily. And I cherish the 4 to 6 hours that I sleep a day."
Ashton adds he has "compassion" for the contractors, but insists he was pushed to making the internet video.
He wrote: "I have been woken up every morning for the last four months by hammering and construction on a structure that is very close to our property line after being told the land was being purchased to build a park. Yes, there may have been a more diplomatic way to do it and maybe broadcasting it for the net wasn't the wisest choice.
"My father is a contractor and my step father is a contractor. I grew up hiking shingles to the roof of houses and driving nails at 7 am for a living. I have absolute compassion and understanding for the workers."
In the original footage, Ashton fumed: "It's 7.30am, and I gotta wake up in my bedroom to my f***ing jackass neighbour doing this next to my porch!
"This is where my d***weed neighbour has decided to be building a house at 7am pounding on steel and welding right next to my friggin' house!
"I'm gonna' lose it on this guy, I'm gonna lose it."
