Simon Cowell is obsessed with hamsters.
The music mogul loves the rodents so much he once owned 18 of them and taught them to do tricks.
Simon, 49, admitted: "I had 18 hamsters when I was growing up. I loved watching them run on their wheel. One could even swim under water."
The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge revealed his obsession during recent auditions for the show after fellow judges Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden slammed a girl performing a trick with a wheel for "looking like a hamster".
On hearing Amanda accuse the girl of not smiling enough, Simon sprung to her defence.
He said: "I used to have hamsters and they never smiled either."
Simon recently axed proposed fourth judge Kelly Brook after just six days on the panel.
He said: "I have genuinely enjoyed working with Kelly, she is absolutely lovely and a complete professional. But it's become clear the format doesn't support another judge and we will never add a fourth judge to the panel."
