Beyonce Knowles performed at the star-studded concert to celebrate the inauguration of US President-elect Barack Obama yesterday (18.01.09).

The singer provided a fittingly emotive finale at the 'We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration' event at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C, with a powerful rendition of 'America the Beautiful'.

After inviting all of the afternoon's performer's back on stage, Beyonce finished with the words: "America, we are one."

The two-hour concert - one of several events to mark the swearing in of America's first African-American President tomorrow (20.01.09) - saw a host of stars show their support for Obama, including appearances from Tom Hanks, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Mary J. Blige, Jamie Foxx, Sheryl Crow, Usher and Shakira.

The afternoon's proceedings were opened by actor Denzel Washington.

He said: "We are inspired by the man we've elected to be the 44th President."

Obama enjoyed the show from the front row, alongside his wife Michelle and their daughters Malia, 10, and seven-year-old Sasha.
