The British TV presenter - who is the current host of US reality TV show 'So You Think You Can Dance' - says she sometimes feels there are primates living in her head similar to those from the famous TV commercial for PG Tips tea bags.
She said: "I have a monkey mind. Sometimes when I try to sleep, it's like a PG Tips party happening in my head.
"Literally like monkeys just inanely chattering to each other. And it just spirals. You know, when you're lying there in the dark and you try to switch it off and you can't and the clock goes round and round."
The bubbly star, 32, insists the problem was so bad when she was younger her parents were forced to seek expert medical advice.
She added to Britain's the Sunday Times Magazine: "My mum and dad took me to the doctor's because I didn't sleep, and the doctor said, 'She'll be all right once she starts school.' And I was.
"And then they had my brother and they took my brother to the doctor's because they thought he slept too much, and the doctor said, 'No, this is a normal baby. It's the one you had before that was the nightmare.'"
