The Times Online reported that victim Will Pike had been recovering from a dramatic fall while escaping his hotel room in a South London hospital for weeks.
Pike reportedly has constructed a makeshift rope of bedsheets in his room in an attempt to escape terrorists who had taken over his hotel, the 28-year-old broke three of his vertebrae, both his arms and shattered his pelvis. Pike is unable to move his legs. His prognosis is not clear.
Pike had to give away his tickets for a planned attendance of comedian and actor Eddie Izzard’s show at the Lyric Theatre, London, last month.
It was Pike's dad Nigel who wrote to Izzard, and told him what had happened and how his son was to miss the show, asking if Izzard could possibly find time to forward a note to cheer his son up.
Eddie Izzard went above and beyond the dad's request, and showed up at the hospital to entertain Pike, recovering in the spinal-cord unit.
Nigel Pike told The Times that Izzard’s unexpected appearance was a “great thing to do” for his son.
