Robbie Williams' mother underwent emergency heart bypass surgery after doctors found a potentially fatal diseased artery.
Counsellor Jan, 67, sought medical advice for chest pains last Thursday (18.12.08), and doctors diagnosed a condition which could have killed her if she didn't have an almost immediate operation.
Jan is said to be in a "critical but stable" condition after the four-and-a-half hour procedure on Sunday (21.12.08).
She is expected to spend a further five days in Manchester's Alexandra Hospital, but is due to leave the intensive care ward today (23.12.08) meaning she will be able to have visitors - including her 34-year-old son Robbie.
Robbie's sister Sally, 42, says she and Robbie have been rallying around Jan since the diagnosis, and are doing everything they can to make her recovery as easy as possible over the festive period.
She told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "We will be taking Christmas to her in the hospital. Robbie has been speaking to mum every day, and called her this morning. He will see her as soon as he can. We will all have Christmas dinner together when mum gets out of hospital.
"It was all very much a shock."
