Tom Cruise sat down with “Extra’s” Mario Lopez who opened up about his new role in the WWII film, Valkyrie, his surprise Golden Globe nomination for his comedic performance in Tropic Thunder and the paparazzi’s obsession with his wide-eyed daughter, Suri.

Lopez also told Cruise about their extra special connection – Both Lopez and Cruise’s wife, Katie Holmes, made their Broadway debut at the Schoenfeld Theatre! “That’s outstanding!” Cruise exclaimed.

Cruise’s role as an over-the-top Hollywood producer in Tropic Thunder earned him a Golden Globe nomination as well as the approval of his kids, Connor and Bella. “They loved it. They loved it! They went off,” Cruise said. As for his classic dancing scene, Cruise revealed, “I learned how to dance watching Soul Train…Always the coolest moves.”

Daughter Suri has become a tabloid staple, but sharing her with the world doesn’t phase Cruise. “What choice do I have? We didn’t let pictures out at first and there was a bit of an outcry…It’s our life and I don’t know what else to do,” Cruise commented.

In his new film, Valkyrie in theaters December 25th, Cruise plays Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg who leads a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. When asked why he chose this role, Cruise responded, “I knew I was interested in the film. I always wanted to kill Hitler so Stauffenberg and I had that in common…I found it very compelling…And so suspenseful.”

Jaime Foxx surprised Cruise with a delivered message to him saying, “Congratulations on that Golden Globe nomination... You deserve it and more... I got my fingers crossed for you buddy... Let's pop champagne!!!
