Best Supporting Actor nominee Jeremy Piven told “Extra” how he got the good news about his nod for Entourage saying, “Luckily I was in New York and we’re a few hours ahead so I got to sleep in a bit…Sam, my publicist, sent me a text. It’s a great morning.”
Piven continued, “I’m so thrilled and excited to have this job and continue to do that and to work…It’s the kind of show and character, as soon as it’s not fresh, we’ll be done. I think there’s a lot more to explore.”
Piven commented on his Entourage co-star, Kevin Connolly’s Best Actor nomination, “He deserves it. What he does on the show is not easy. ”
Piven also revealed he’s been calling President-elect Obama and says he plans to crash the inauguration! He explained, “I was lucky to stump for Barack in Indiana and to introduce him in Chicago…Barack left me five [phone] numbers. It was the greatest voicemail that I’ve gotten in my life by the way….I saved it…and I went back to listen to it and my blackberry had erased all of Barack Obama’s phone numbers.
Then when I called back to try to tell them, ‘Can I get Barack’s number? He left it for me.’ They didn’t believe me and I now have nothing and I’ve been trying to find him. And I have no invite to the inauguration and I think I’m going to crash it to be honest with you…I’m on stage right now doing Broadway and I’m going to miss my show to go to the White house and I don’t have a ticket.”
America Ferrera, nominated for Lead Actress for her role in Ugly Betty commented, “I was in bed sleeping and I got a phone call…Of course I was excited. You can’t NOT be excited! It’s a great thing. You’re never sure. You never take something like this for granted. It’s like a cherry on top. I feel so lucky.”
Brad Pitt (Actor/Drama/Curious Case of Benjamin Button): "I am pleased to be nominated for this award and would like to also congratulate David, Eric and Alexandre on their nominations. We’re all very proud of the film and thankful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for recognizing our work.”
Angelina Jolie (Actor/Drama/Changeling): “I am honored to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press in a category with so many extraordinary women. What an amazing experience, having the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood on a film I care so deeply about.”
Dustin Hoffman(Actor/Comedy or Musical/Last Chance Harvey): “It is so exciting to be nominated, but working with Emma was reward enough. Don’t get me wrong, I still want to win!”
Emma Thompson (Actress/Comedy or Musical/Last Chance Harvey): “Dustin and I had the best time making this film. It seems insane to get an award nomination on top of that, but I'm thrilled."
Amy Adams (Supporting Actress/Doubt): “I am so honored to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for DOUBT along with John Patrick Shanley, Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Viola Davis. Helping to bring John’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play to the screen was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.”
Hugh Laurie (Best Actor/Television Drama Series/HOUSE): “I am thrilled. Nine feet tall and thrilled."
