SAG president Alan Rosenberg and actress Marg Helgenberger have reportedly split up.
Allegedly split up: US actors Alan Rosenberg (L) and wife Marg Helgenberger (R) EPA/PAUL BUCK
Helgenberger celebrated her 50th birthday recently, and it was revealed to US tabloid National Enquirer that she left Rosenberg, whom she had been married to since 1989.
Rosenberg is currently at the fractious forefront of collapsed mediation talks between the major studios and the Screen Actors Guild.
In a letter sent to the union's 120,000 members today, Rosenberg blasted the major studios for seeking to impose "one-size-fits-all demands" on the union and accused management of using the depressed economy as an excuse to ignore the needs of actors, especially when it comes to securing their future in online entertainment residuals.
"It's also curious that these global corporations are preaching to us about the bad economy,'' Rosenberg said. "Like it's our fault. As middle-income actors we are the victims of corporate greed. We didn't cause this turmoil. Now, more than ever, we need to make a unified stand, in solidarity. … Our ability to make a living as professional actors for decades to come is at stake."
Helgenberger is an Emmy-winning actress who plays forensic investigator Catherine Willows on CBS’ long-running hit series "CSI", and was reportedly "unhappy" for some time.
“Marg hasn’t been happy for a long time, and as 50 approached she finally told Alan she wanted to start the second half of her life alone,” a close friend told the Enquirer. “But both she and Alan love their son, and want to minimize any trauma the split would have on him. They’re excellent parents, but they just came to the decision that their lives together were no longer working.”
