Albert - who worked with Kate and co-star Leonardo DiCaprio on upcoming movie 'Revolutionary Road' - says the controversy regarding her recent Vanity Fair cover, for which she was accused of being airbrushed, is entirely unnecessary.
He said: "Kate is a serious actress but she is someone who really cares about what she looks like. She is not out to be someone that she isn't, she wants to be herself. She is terrific - Kate's body is terrific to work with."
Kate's representative insisted the actress only had her skin tone evened for the photoshoot, in which she posed wearing just a fur coat.
She said: "She is in terrific shape and what you see is how she looks or she would never have agreed to pose for those shots."
Other pictures in the magazine saw the 33-year-old actress clad in black stockings and high heels.
