The Jonas Brothers are set to make their big screen debut in new movie 'Walter the Farting Dog'.

The American band are due to start filming the movie, based on the bestselling children's books by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray, in spring.

'Walter the Farting Dog' follows the trials and tribulations of a canine with a flatulence problem.

The three brothers - Kevin, 20, Joe, 19, and Nick, 16 - will play musicians whose parents take care of the dog shortly before the pet's owner, their aunt, dies.

The stars' younger brother Frankie, eight, will also appear in the film. Frankie's character and Walter the dog will join forces to rescue an expensive Koi fish and stop jewel thieves.

Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen are writing the screenplay, with Peter and Bobby Farrelly rumoured to be directing.

Speaking about the forthcoming film, author Murray said: "I used to think Bill Murray should play Walter without a costume because he sort of has that bumbling, apologetic look to him when he wants to.

"It's not just for kids, he is the people's farting dog now, comrade."

The band recently received rave reviews for their performances in Disney Channel Original Movie 'Camp Rock'.
