Obama has a choice: (a) Be with his dying grandma, OR (b) run for president.

He is trying to have his cake and eat it too. It doesn't work that way. He needs to issue a clear statement on this issue, which should read like this:

I, Barack Hussein Obama, choose not to be with my grandma at this time in my life and I choose to use my middle name because that is what reality is. I choose not faking that I have family values and personally help my grandma and ma, instead I have chosen to horde hundreds of millions of dollars and become the most powerful man in the world.

Just state it like it is in reality and be done with it.

Obama for how he talks about his grandmother and gives her much credit for who he is. What this family decides on how to deal with her illness and their private conversations is NOBODY'S business. Most people aren't constantly at a relative's bedside waiting for them to die in the last weeks. What disgusting comments and criticism at this sad time. Some people have no shame whatsoever.

If Obama wants it to be a private matter then he should shut the hell up about it.

Geesh, he wants to post it all over the news media and then call it a private matter.

That is a double standard.

If Obama can talk it up in public, then it IS a public matter.

Of course he must finish his campaign for the presidency. There are only a few more day to go, and he can't let it slip through his fingers. His grandmother would be more devasted then anyone if he did that.

And we would all be worse off if Barack Obama does not win. So he must fight to the end so that the whole world can benefit from his peaceful, intelligent leadership.

Right on guys! Now you are being honest!

Sacrifice your grandma to achieve the ultimate power. I like it. Greed is good. Just don't lie about your intentions and pretend like you have family values when infact, you choose a different path. Business always comes first.

Of course Obama is going to talk about his grandma since she was a big part of his life. I'm referring to personal decisions made between family members to which an outsider has no business speculating or criticising. I guess small-minded people abound everywhere and always know best what someone else should or should not do. They are best ignored. Obama has shown a lot of character and caring.

'Obama has shown a lot of character and caring.'

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. This is what YOU need to do:

Go to a nursing home in your community and volunteer three times a week for a few hours each time. Do that for an entire year. Then you will begin to understand the issues.

You will understand about how people SAY they support their parents and grandparents, but abandon them nonetheless. Just another form of hypocrisy and par for the course.

You are being ridiculous! What on earth have people abandoned in nursing homes have to do with Obama? You aren't privy to any personal conversations in this family or between his grandmother's doctors, etc. He is not abandoning this woman, good lord. I feel sorry for the hate you hold. You will be out voted on this one, mister!

'He is not abandoning this woman'

Obama is either taking care of his grandma, or (if anything) he is paying someone else to do it. Since Obama is a long distance from his grandma that means someone else is being paid to do it for him, or someone else is doing it for free. That someone else is taking care of Obama's grandma and you should give that someone else the credit, not Obama. Obama HAS abandoned his grandma.

This issue is very clear and very obvious. You can only take care of someone if you are within proximity of them. Otherwise, someone else takes care of that someone.

Sure, he probably gives her a phone call, but that is probably about the extent of it. He is making no sacrifice for his grandma. Obama is all about business.

Turning this into a compassionate caring situation is something that that 'someone' not mentioned gets to do, not Obama.

Give that 'someone' credit. Lets hear more about that 'someone'. I want to acknowledge that 'someone', and you want to ignore that 'someone'. Shame on you. I feel sorry for that 'someone' that is being cast aside so Obama can claim the highground, while that 'someone' does the work.

Who is that 'someone'??

lanceOct 26th, 2008 - 22:54:11

Lets stop talking about Obama. I want to hear about the real hero here. Lets bring forth the 'someone' from the shadows.

Lets prevent Obama from casting his shadow of omnipotence upon that 'someone'. Lets give the unspoken hero a chance to let us know for real what it is really like to be burdened with the responsibility of a sick old person.

Let the real 'someone' step forward and speak, not some doppelganger politician.

You want the politician to win, while I want that 'someone' in the background to win this one.

Despite any political bias to either party; I am deeply saddend that Mr Obama's Grandmother passed away today, the day before she may have gotten to see her Grandson become president. Obama's Grandmother helped raise him acting as his primary parent and put much energy into his successes, wether we agree with his policy stance or not.
My heart aches as I am saddened that she will not get to see how it all ends tomorrow, and that he will not be able to call her with the result of her part of their labor.
As a mother who has also helped her child acheive a seemingly unatainable goal, my heart is very heavy for them both. The loss of never knowing what could have been as a result of ones hard line sacrafices and consistant dedication is much worse than a death of a loved one, which in time will be thought of with many fond memories.
