George Clooney is set to star in a remake of horror movie 'The Birds'.
The Hollywood heartthrob is the favourite to take the lead role of lawyer Mitch Bremner, who was portrayed by actor Rod Taylor in Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 original, in the new version.
Taylor, now 78, believes Clooney would be perfect for the part.
He said: "I often cringe when I hear remakes being mentioned, but I'll hold judgement on this, especially since George is the favourite."
Naomi Watts is also being lined up for the movie. She is being hotly-tipped to play the lead female character, socialite Melanie Daniels, who was originally portrayed by Tippi Hedren.
Although Taylor is open to the idea of a remake, Hedren is vehemently against a new version of the film - which sees a local community terrorised by flocks of killer birds.
She is quoted as saying: "Can't we find new things to do? Must you be so insecure that you have to take a film that's a classic and try to recreate it?"
