Grace Gummer, 22, is to star in 'The Sexual Neuroses of Our Parents' as Dora, who develops an insatiable sexual desire after 10 years on tranquilizers, resulting in an unwanted pregnancy and abortion.
The play opens at New York's Wild Project on November 11.
Grace's older sister Mamie recently appeared in Broadway play 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses'.
Meryl - who has previously performed on stage, most recently in 2006 production 'Mother Courage and Her Children' - has insisted in the past she isn't against any of her four children going into acting but is unsure how they would cope in the cutthroat industry.
She explained: "You just know what the road is. There's a lot of heartbreak, a lot of rejection, a lot of pain so it's hard to say, 'Sure honey, take that job, because it's really tough.' "
