Well, so much for representing their constituencies...
I'm satisfied to see that both the Louisiana Senators voted against this nonsense.
glad to see that Matt and the rest of the know-nothings are annoyed. Good sign for recovery.
Split vote from NC.. I am PO'd... It appears that Attention Deficit Disorder is running rampant in Washington. 'No taxation without representation' started a major revolt and war at some point in our history as I recall. What a sham vote !!
Well now I know who I'm not voting for.
Calibama, Califsippi.... Boxer and Feinstein ...what and insult to your constituency.
This is horrible!! What I want to know is what country are we gonna borrow THIS money from to bail out the idiot banks that loaned moeny to people that didn't have an income?!? We borrowed from China (the world's largest army) to get a stimulus check. Who will we get this cash from...China again?!? Like we're not subject to them already. UGH! This so makes me mad!! Have we (and the politicians) forgotten that 'WE THE PEOPLE' pay their stinking paychecks?? When 'WE THE PEOPLE' decide to really stop paying their income maybe they'll stop and listen to us! But until then we are...for lack of better words...screwed!
Just turn those printing presses on ant print out another 85 billion.
pretty soon our dollar wont be worth nothing.
NO INTEGRIY,NO CREDIBILITY,NO LOYALTY.What a bunch of low lifes that voted for this scam. Once again the American people get slapped in the f ace. First they try to scare us, then they just don't listen to us. I bet they listen when we vote their sorry butts right out of office
No bailout. You vote for the bailout and we vote you out. What part of that don't they understand?
contact the yes voters and let them know their fate!
i'm on the search to get the actual text of the bill.
will be looking for the pork stuffed in, one item i heard about was the suspension of the excise tax on arrows (as in bow and arrow) with wooden shafts, around page 300.
whoever inserted that, and i'm sure other such items, needs to be FIRED by me, the paymaster/taxpayer.
the level of incompetence...............
George Soros is calling for nationalization of banks. How did we get here?
It's not just paper that the government is buying. Its properties that must be selected, managed, and resold. What an opportunity to create bigger government and more corruption. If there had to be a bailout, why couldn't the government just purchase stock in the struggling companies and let the companies figure out how to become profitable again?
The Senate specializes in high-stakes legislating-by-enticement, and the long list of sweeteners it added was designed to attract votes from various constituencies.
Tax cuts new and old are favorites for most House Republicans, the main target of intense lobbying to gain support for the measure. Help for rural schools was aimed mainly at lawmakers in the West, while disaster aid was a top priority for lawmakers from across the Midwest and South.
Another addition, to extend the deductibility of state and local taxes for people in states without income taxes, helps Florida and Texas, among others.
And there were plenty of obscure tax breaks to go around, like one for certain wooden arrows used by children, and another benefiting litigants in the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.
Senate leaders were expected to try adding another goodie before the final vote: extending a tax break for homeowners who do not itemize their tax returns.
Raising the federal deposit insurance limit - along with the SEC's decision to ease accounting rules on valuing assets - helped House Republicans claim credit for some substantive changes.
Good job Bill Nelson of Florida. I guess I will be voting for you next time. You actually listen to the voters.
Martinez what a disappointment.
I am outraged! Even IF this bailout was a good idea.... Supposedly we're in a financial crisis??? So what's up with the PORK then? FOR SALE: United States of America. A lot of land, many resources, but included in the price is a lot of very angry people.
As far as I'm concerned get them ALL out and start over again from scratch (meaning the CONSTITUTION).
Sorry to see that you voted for the 'bailout'
I will no longer vote for you anymore and hope you lose your senate seat...(and I am a life long republican).
The republican Party used to stand for Limited Government and the Constitution but those days are long gone. Socialist Sellouts like you make me sick to my stomach.
Just remember Mr Martinez, you're in that position to represent 'US'...I told you to vote 'NO' so I'll vote 'NO' next time you're up for election!!!!
I have made a list of the way they all voted and will be voting anyone who voted yes out the next time they are up for election. This is truly unacceptable. They have revolted from what they know the people want to feed their own greed. It's time that we do the same to them. It's our only chance. BOTH parties obviously are corruped byond recognition now.
Even in the face of a collapse of our financial system, we got more of the same. Was it really necessary to add $150,000,000 to this package. I guess they believe that they haven't done enough to destroy this country. More debt, way to go!!!!
All those who voted Yea, voted with their pockets, not with their mind.
And the pork that was attached...its obscene!
Now come November 4th., I'll just stay home. What's the use of
voting.
