Wolf Blitzer of CNN raps up his initial impressions of Gov. Sarah Palin's electrifying speech at the RNC.  "She knocked this speech out of the park..maybe it was a grand-slam." he noted.

Anderson Cooper added, "she is a force to be reckoned with."

The top of the fight card tonight was the anticipated speech delivered by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin who trumped her experience as a former small-town mayor over the achievements of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Palin, 44, declared to all parents of special needs children that if she is elected with John McCain, that they will have an advocate in the White House.

"Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown," Palin said in remarks prepared for delivery. "And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."

Palin painted herself as a true outsider.

"I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly, these past few days, that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone," Palin said. "But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country."

Palin revealed her own biography.

"I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids' public education better," she said. "When I ran for city council, I didn't need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too."

As Alaska's governor, Palin has spoken out against corruption, battled for funding from major oil producers and convinced the legislature to give a $1,200 "energy rebate" to nearly every Alaskan. Her approval rating in the state stands at 80 percent.

I wouldn't exactly call it electrifying. It was good, but I kept waiting for her to say something worthwhile regarding HOW their ticket was going to make changes. She made a lot of cutesy remarks that really went well with the crowd of course. And the usual POW remarks concerning McCain. The entire first part of the speech was same old, same old that we've heard or read since we became aware of her - like a few days ago. Let's wait and see how well she does, without her prepared speech, in the debates.

...candidates frequently intorduce themselves to the nation at these shindigs, especially if they have not been campaigning for the last 14 months for the job. This is the reason for the first part of the speech i.e. to reiterate all of that on the national stage.

But she got right down to business. That business will be to be the attack dog for Johnny. In that, she really did a job. Right now, the dems will need to paint her as any or all of the three:

Stupid(like GW before beating Gore)

Crazy (like GW after beating Kerry, couldn't very well sell stupid after that...)

Radical ( like GW after crazy did not work very well either)

After all, they're beat on the experience front, with Obama having less than anyone, so they need an edge. They do have the provincial, biased, libnazi drive-by media, always an asset, to peck her bare, like they have on the Clinton Nat'l Broadcasting Co. (CNBC) but even some of them were silenced tonight.

My buddy thinks the dems got Biden bacause he would face a similar, old, tired conservative of some type like Cheney and now has this to deal with. If he cuts into her, he's picking on a woman. If he's condescending, it'll play bad for those Clinton crossovers. She comes from a state that is directly in the political crosshairs with ANWR and other natural resource issues, and is versed in those issues like almost no other candidate could be.

Honestly, it was an inspiring political move, unorthodox, unexpected and typical of men and women trained at the nations top military academies, trained to think for themselves. It has the pundits looking like goofs trying to sell McCain as old and tired...then he pulls this.

This leaves Obama with McCain, the lifetime elder statesman, against the boy-king wannabee, trumpeted like the Golden Calf, or one of those Buddhist child-kings, all cerimoniously dressed up and carried on the shoulders of his worshippers, looking befuddled as if to say 'why am I here?'. Palin will contrast perfectly and be the silent reminder of what the dems gave up for a lifetime, obstructionist political dirty towel, who was dealt in, versus a woman who got 18000000 votes.

There's only 8 weeks left, if that, and neither candidate has secured a mandate.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a 'task that is from God.'

Christians killing muslims, plain and simple.

They did a good job of trying to downplay her looks and making her look dowdy. Wonder if that was in their bag of tricks. Very interesting times ahead!

She and Vladimir Putin remind me of each other, she hunts big game and he bags game and recently a white Tiger and says things with absolute authority, as does she. She will not be easy for the democrats to shout down...

..she didn't look too dowdy to me, but then men like me actually have good taste in what a woman should look like at these shindigs...
