I am voting for Obama but 'Sean Combs' isn't doing anything for him w/ this video. I am in Alaska and we are just like everyone else in the lower 48. Probably better off then most states at that. for your information, the Alaskan population is 3.7% African American. Does race matter? The Property crime rate is 36.0 per 1000 inhabitants, the 18th highest in the country. The violent crime rate is 6.9 per 1000 inhabitants, the 6th highest in the country. As far as the 'crack' you mentioned, the DEA reported 28.9 kgs seized in 2007. So, yes, there are black people here, crack, and OMG even crime.
You should also know that Sarah Palin has an approval rating among Alaskans over 90%. She has taken a stance on corruption among some of the most powerful politicians in Alaska.

Everytime I travel outside I get the usual 'are there polar bears?' 'Do you live in igloos?'. I think a lot of what scares people about Palin is that they know nothing about the state she comes from. To insinuate that the entire State of Alaska is some how racist because 'they is no blacks there' is stupid.
A small portion of the population is Black, about 19.5% according to the recent census. Want to know why??? Because they do not grow cotton in Alaska. The majority of slaves stolen from Africa were sent to cotton plantations in the South, where they grow cotton. Did you know that?? Those freed slaves stayed in the south or migrated to the West but not very many of them went far north,probably too cold and they wanted to remain in a region that reminded them of their native Africa.
The reasons for so little black in Alaska is simple common sense and history. It is not based in racism. Nor does being a resident of Alaska make you less able to govern or hold office and fairly represent ALL people of ALL races. If we apply your thinking, then Obama would not be able to fairly deal with anyone outside the African American race.
Probably a good thing there aren't any crackheads in Alaska! He should stick to what he knows and leave the politics to the big boys and girls.
